Elsevier
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) declares its participation in the DEAL agreement negotiated with the publisher Elsevier for the years 2024-2028. The following conditions apply:

  • Read-only access
From 2024, FAU members and members of Universitätsklinikum Erlangen will have access to almost the entire Elsevier journal portfolio, including titles from “Cell Press” and “The Lancet”.
  • Open Access Publishing
Members of FAU and the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen can publish open access in almost all 1,800 hybrid Elsevier journals as “Corresponding Author” within the framework of DEAL. The contract start date for the publication component was January, 10. From this date, accepted articles are covered by the DEAL contract with the “acceptance date” being decisive.
An overview of the journals that are accepted for publication and those that are excluded (spreadsheet “excluded-ch-cptl”) can be found at the Max Planck Digital Library.
  • Gold Open Access Discounts
A publication in one of the more than 600 Gold Open Access journals is subsidised with a discount of 20%. There is a 15% discount for publication in Open Access journals from “Cell Press” and “The Lancet”. Pro-rata funding via the Open Access Publication Fund is possible if the eligibility requirements are met.

Springer Nature, Wiley
The existing DEAL agreements with the publishers Springer Nature and Wiley will also be continued in 2024.
